Registration
BECOME A USA HOCKEY COACH AT Moorhead Youth HOCKEY
USA Hockey and the Coaching Education Program require both certification and registration to be eligible to coach. Registration is done online on a yearly basis. Certification is also required. A few basic step requirements are as follows: All coaching requirements (In-House & Travel) MUST BE COMPLETED by Nov 30, 2026!
USA Hockey Requirements (Must be completed before participating in any team activities)
- Register as a member of USA Hockey. (Cost is $46 plus any affiliate fees if applicable). Click here for more information.
- Register your USA Hockey number with Moorhead Hockey. This helps us track your background check, CEP, Safe Sport, and modules. This also helps us attach you to a team within the USA Hockey database when it comes time to roster your team.

- Complete and pass the background screening. Click here.
- Complete the USA Hockey Safe Sport Training. (Required every year and cannot be added to a roster until completed). Click here for more information.
- Complete the online age-specific module(s) for the age level of play you are coaching. (Cost is $10 per module and only needs to be completed once per age level. Must be completed PRIOR to participating in any team activities and cannot be added to a roster until completed) Click here to register for the modules.
- Find, register and attend the required certification clinic. The Cost is $55. You can only attend one clinic per season and all coaches start at Level 1. You can take clinics from April 1-Dec. 15 each season. Click here to locate a clinic.
- Complete Concussion Training. This needs to done every 2 years for all coaches. Once completed please email a copy to Amanda at myha@moorheadyouthhockey.com. Click here to complete your training.
Coaching Education Program Certification Clinic Requirements (Must be completed by Dec 15, 2026)
*There will not be any CEP Certification offered after Dec 15th! Make sure you have all your modules and CEP completed by then.*
Minnesota Hockey will NOT be issuing any temporary cards for the 2026-2027 season
Travel reimbursement forms MUST be turned into the office within one week after you travel, otherwise you will NOT be paid for your travel expenses. You can email your completed form to Amanda at myha@moorheadyouthhockey.com or drop it off in the office or the drop box out side of the office.
Coaching Requirements and DIBS Credits
**Coaches will not be officially recognized for coaching until all applicable requirements have been fully completed.
In-house coaches will receive half of their DIBS credit upon completion of the following requirements:
- Registration with Moorhead Youth Hockey
- Registration with USA Hockey
- Background screening
- SafeSport training
Travel coaches will receive full DIBS credit upon completion of the following requirements:
- Registration with Moorhead Youth Hockey
- Registration with USA Hockey
- Background screening
SafeSport training - Completion of CEP training or continuing education credits
- Completion of required level Age Appropriate modules
